What it does
Most AI will tell you how to reconcile two spreadsheets. This one opens both, does it, and gives you the file. Your coworker gets a private workspace for each task — somewhere it can open your files, work through them properly, and save what it produces. Anything it makes appears in the Files panel next to the conversation, ready to open or download. Nothing runs on your computer, and no task can see another task’s files. When you’d use it
- Reconcile two exported spreadsheets and flag every line that doesn’t match
- Clean a messy contact list — deduplicate, fix the formatting, hand back a tidy one
- Chart three months of sales from a raw export
- Turn forty images into a single PDF
- Pull a folder of invoices into one summary sheet
- Split one big file into the per-region versions each team needs
Turning it on
Open your coworker, choose Capabilities, and find Code and files in the Built-in tools list. It’s on by default.Code and files — Run code and work with files in a secure sandbox.

Code and files on the Capabilities tab. This is also what Dynamic workflows depends on.
What it looks like
You upload a file, or your coworker produces one. Either way it lands in the Files panel beside the conversation, and you can open it there without downloading anything — spreadsheets render as tables, documents as documents, images as images. When your coworker changes a file you gave it, you can see exactly what changed rather than taking its word for it. See Seeing what changed.Good to know
Every task gets its own private workspace. Files from one task aren’t visible to another. To keep something across tasks, save it to the coworker’s own files — see Files overview.
Common questions
Is my data safe?
Is my data safe?
The workspace is private to a single task, isolated from everything else, and thrown away when the task is done. Nothing runs on your machine and nothing is shared between tasks or between coworkers.
What file types can it handle?
What file types can it handle?
Spreadsheets, documents, PDFs, images, and plain text and data files. If you can open it on a laptop, it can generally work with it.
Can I get the file back out?
Can I get the file back out?
Yes — download it from the Files panel, or ask your coworker to email it to someone if it has Talking to people or an email app connected.
Does it need to know how to program?
Does it need to know how to program?
You don’t. Ask in plain English — “find the rows in this export that aren’t in that one” — and it works out the rest.
How big a file can I give it?
How big a file can I give it?
Ordinary business exports are comfortably fine. For very large files, tell your coworker what you’re after up front so it works through the file rather than trying to hold all of it at once.
